HAMILTON, Ont. -- Hamiltons offence was sputtering with a crucial piece lost to injury, but the Tiger-Cats defence held the Edmonton Eskimos at bay long enough for a comeback. After losing running back C.J. Gable at the start of the game, the Ticats forced three turnovers and Zach Collaros connected with Brandon Banks for the winning touchdown in the fourth quarter en route to a 25-23 at Tim Hortons Field on Saturday. "The defence was unbelievable," said Collaros, who finished the game 25 for 35 for 275 yards with one passing touchdown, one rushing touchdown and one interception. "I gave (Edmonton) a touchdown, and if you take that away, we win this pretty easily." Having just returned from the disabled list, Gable suffered a shoulder injury on the teams opening offensive series and did not return. The Ticats had not dressed a replacement. Hamilton head coach Kent Austin said the loss of an effective running option played havoc with his playbook, and forced offensive coordinator Tommy Condell to get creative. "That was one of the all-time top performances Ive ever seen from a playcaller," said Austin. "It had a cascading effect on our personnel groupings. We actually had to rename some of our groupings." The Tiger-Cats (4-7) held the Eskimos (8-4) to 316 total yards in the win. It was Hamiltons second consecutive win, and their third in four games. Hamilton has now won consecutive games against West Division opponents after beginning the season 0-6 against the West. Edmonton quarterback Mike Reilly was 23 for 42 for 268 yards with two touchdowns, two interceptions and a fumble. Eskimos head coach Chris Jones deemed the game winnable, but the execution just wasnt there. "Everything we could possibly have done to let them back into the game, we did," said Jones. "Defensively, it looked like we hadnt practised all week." Collaros dumped a short pass to Banks, who turned the corner and ran 42 yards for the touchdown that gave Hamilton a 24-16 lead. Defence ruled the first quarter as neither team got on the scoreboard and Hamilton held Edmonton to just 12 net yards of offence in the first 15 minutes. Hamilton marched the ball to Edmontons six-yard line as the quarter came to an end on a drive that included a 31-yard reception by Andy Fantuz, his longest of the season. But the Ticats were forced to settle for a Justin Medlock chip-shot field goal from 13 yards. Edmonton receiver Fred Stamps moved up to second in the Eskimos all-time receiving yards list with a 30-yard catch in the second quarter, passing Terry Vaughns previous mark of 7,681. After a 64-yard punt single got the Eskimos on the board, the visitors benefited from an undisciplined play by Ticats defensive back Delvin Breaux, who was flagged for a combination of unnecessary roughness and pass interference that netted 34 penalty yards and moved Edmonton to the Hamilton eight-yard line. Another penalty, this one to defensive end Eric Norwood, moved Edmonton to the four, and the Eskimos crossed the goal-line three plays later when Tyler Thomas hauled in a pass from Reilly in the flats. The Eskimos defence seized on the momentum and added to their lead on the Ticats ensuing drive, when Odell Willis popped the ball loose from the arms of Collaros and Alonzo Lawrence returned the fumble 16 yards for a touchdown to give Edmonton a 15-3 lead. Edmonton running back Kendial Lawrence left the game with a lower body injury in the second quarter and did not return. "We ran the tests at halftime, and he was showing concussion-like symptoms," Jones said of Lawrence. In a third quarter dominated by the defences, Hamiltons Rico Murray intercepted Reilly for his team-leading fourth pick of the season. It was the seventh interception the quarterback has thrown this year. The two teams combined for 11 sacks through three quarters. A crucial interception by Hamilton cornerback Courtney Stephen to open fourth quarter spurred a five-play, 40-yard touchdown drive that ended with a one-yard sneak by Collaros and gave the Ticats a 17-15 lead. After Banks winning touchdown at 12:20 of the fourth quarter, the Ticats added a single point on a punt single at 13:26. Reilly found Fred Stamps for a touchdown with six seconds remaining in the game. Penguins Jerseys 2020 . Marcus Olsson, 23, joins Blackburn on a free transfer from Swedens Halmstads. He made 139 appearances and scored 17 goals in his four years with the club. He earned his first caps for Sweden this month, featuring against Bahrain and Qatar. The 34-year old was magnificent in 2013, throwing for just under 2,900 yards despite missing eight games, tossing an impressive 21 touchdowns against just two interceptions, completing 66 per cent of his passes in the process. Penguins Jerseys 2019 . De La Rosa pitched six strong innings to win his sixth consecutive decision, Todd Helton homered and the Colorado Rockies snapped the Los Angeles Dodgers six-game winning streak with a 7-5 victory on Wednesday night. Wholesale Penguins Jerseys . By then it was clear: The 76ers were going to win for the first time in two months, and they were going to do it with ease. The 76ers snapped their NBA record-tying, 26-game losing streak, routing the Detroit Pistons 123-98 on Saturday night to avoid establishing the longest skid in U.ENGLEWOOD, Colo. - John Elways philosophy is to address immediate needs in free agency, even though some of his own veterans may prove too pricey to keep around. Eric Decker and Knowshon Moreno both said theyd love to stay in Denver, but they might find more lucrative offers elsewhere when free agency begins in a month. Unlike the Seattle Seahawks, who throttled the Broncos in the Super Bowl, Denver has a high-priced quarterback who takes up a good chunk of the salary cap, limiting what the team can spend elsewhere. Mannings salary cap charge for 2014 is $17.5 million, same as last season, which was more than Seattles entire starting defence and about 25 times as much as Russell Wilsons $681,000 cap number. "Yeah, but Ill tell you right now its worth it for us to have Peyton Manning," Elway said. "Thats just part of when you get a quality quarterback like that that we have in Peyton Manning. You know thats going to be a big chunk of your salary cap, but we got to figure out ways to find the right players." At the right prices. Elway said he has no problem continuing to build a team around Manning even though nobody knows how long No. 18 will be in the Broncos huddle beyond next season. "Well, were going to keep building like Peyton is going to be here," Elway said. "And you know, when Peyton decides to hang em up, we have expectations hopefully to make that transition." Manning confirmed during Super Bowl week that he intends to play next season, pending clearance from his doctor at his annual checkup next month to see if his surgically repaired neck is sound, which seems like a formality given the way he played last season when he won his fifth MVP award. Manning and the Broncos are out to do something that no team has done since the Buffalo Bills in 1993 — make it back to the Super Bowl the year after losing it. Elway, the teams executive vice-president, had been busy on a blueprint long before the Super Bowl blowout. He knows he could lose Decker, Moreno and guard Zane Beadles on offencce and he has to rebuild a defence that was obliterated by an injury epidemic.dddddddddddd The Broncos have 18 unrestricted and three restricted free agents, but Elway has to be prudent because big deals are looming next year for Demaryius Thomas, Julius Thomas and maybe Von Miller. Hes hit the jackpot in free agency two years in a row, first with Manning in 2012 and then with Wes Welker, Louis Vasquez, Shaun Phillips, Terrance Knighton and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie last year. Elway expects to be busy again this year. He has about $25 million in projected cap space right now but could free up more by asking Champ Bailey and Jacob Tamme to restructure their contracts and by releasing Chris Kuper and Joel Dreessen. Elway said using free agency to address immediate needs gives the Broncos freedom in the draft. "We dont have to sit there and reach for some guy because of a need. So, if we can get rid of really the absolute needs that we need to do in free agency, then that opens it up, we can fire free at the draft, take the best players," he said. If Moreno leaves, the Broncos have Montee Ball ready to step in as the featured back. He came on strong down the stretch, finishing the season with 120 carries for 561 yards and four touchdowns. Nearly a third of his carries moved the sticks, ranking third in the league and tops among rookies. His pass protection also vastly improved. "We have high expectations out of Montee," Elway said. "Well see how things flush out with Knowshon." Decker, who has 32 TD catches over the last three years, would be missed. But Manning has plenty of other targets and teammate Bubba Caldwell, another unrestricted free agent, could prove a cheaper alternative. "This is an organization any player wants to come to," Decker said. "They treat you first class, its a winning organization. Theyve built a culture thats phenomenal. I would love to play here and unfortunately it isnt something thats always in my control." ' ' '
